Arguments against a public option

squashed:

Slartibartpants and I can’t seem to agree on whether or how to reform healthcare.

[a verbose and interesting arguement, really you should read it]

About innovation.  Blue Cross Blue Shield (whom I love as an example because I really really hate them right now) doesn’t innovate anything except how to exempt people from care.  Hospitals, pharmaceutical companies and suppliers innovate.  The government is not seizing hospitals, or manufactures of plastic hip joints and it shouldn’t and 99% of the country thinks the government shouldn’t do that.  That these organizations have been able to make leap and bound advancements on treatments needed for people who regularly use Medicare is proof postive that innovation will not stop if the government impliments a public option.
