explain what?

two things. Sufi’s, you said that they were like muslim kabbalah.

and your icon, wtf?

thanks :)

my icon is dickbutts.  Sufis are wierdo muslims. Sufis.

Anyway.  So Islam has an interesting history bla bla bla.  In Islam supposedly there are just a few things you have to do to be a good Muslim, pray, obey dietary restrictions, don’t be gay, do a Hajj, &c.  Well, Sufi’s are all concerned about being close to god and being spiritual during life instead of waiting to die.  They are all concerned about love and love with God, crap like that.  Hippy shit.

Like all Western Religions, Islam started out poor and zealous.  The first Caliph’s were crazy bad-asses who felt weird living in houses, and wanted to sleep in tents with their camels, on the ground.  but just a generation later the Uyymiad(sp?) Sunni rulers who succeeded most of the Mohammed and the Caliphs accomplished, were a bunch of fat cats living it up in Baghdad, with gardens, and 400 wives and butt boys and stuff.

The Sufi types were the dudes who lost the civil war for succession.  Most of the losers went off to just be plain Shi’a muslims.  Sufis are either Sunni or Shia, and they follow around people who learned how to be “spiritual” from teachers who learned how to do it from teachers, all the way back to Ali, Mohammed’s son-in-law.  So they go around acting like poor monks being poor, begging for money, stuff like that.  They do up starvation and some drug use to recieve divine visions.

Much of the Sufi doctrine is from Jewish mysticism (Kabbalah), but there is also Hindu, and Christian crazyness thrown in for good measure.  Other Muslims either think Sufi’s are ok- because they are esoteric and all philosophical, or they hate it.  Hard Core Al Qiada muslims hate Sufism, probably because the Sufi’s would think killing people is usually wrong.
