No less than Jimmy Carter certified Venezuela’s elections as amongst the most fair and transparent his organization has ever observed. And the voter turnouts that elected Chavez were usually far, far higher than those in the U.S. The voices that cheer and mock the death of Hugo Chavez are in fact mocking democracy and the people of Venezuela, who elected him and who have re-elected him time and time again — most recently by a decisive majority in October, 2012."

Of course, the question remains: if you elect Hugo Chavez, don’t you deserve to be mocked? If Bush had died clearing brush or by stroking out in a grammar class the world would have jeered. Considering the ready comparisons to dictators that the left maintained after his “stolen” election I fail to understand why anyone should escape mockery for electing awful crypto - fascists.

I don’t particularly care about Chavez, but was he really that awful? as far as I can tell Venezuela was a shit hole before he was elected and its a shit hole now.

He turned it from capitalist pig paradise into commie pig paradise, ok and?

Also, everyone hates democracy, they just don’t admit it.
