I mean, I concede that a great many things are influenced by the accumulation of wealth, in combination with and as a means to power. POWER. Wealth is not the end in and of itself, for great nations or devious groups, wealth only represents the means to power, the ability to wield it. Which is actually what people are after. And slavery over another race is power. That’s the whole structure of it. So I mean. I don’t even know what to say to this person.

Slavery had very little to do with racism.

Like, wat? I can’t even wrap my head around that without falling over.

If racism is institutionalized bigotry I think race based slavery would be racist by definition.

I’m honestly trying to figure out if this ask is even real or some kind of trolling joke, attempt at satire. Because the whole thing, is just sort of confusing? Like I can’t imagine someone being serious about that, so I’m thinking maybe she’s just trolling and I took the bait and now I look like a goof? I mean, I honestly hope that’s the case. I hope I’m the naive idiot here, and that isn’t real. and she wasn’t being serious. I can’t tell. I legit cannot tell.

said person is probably serious. Reducing slavery to an ‘economics only argument and if you make any other argument you are a revisionist or liberal liar or whatever’ is a pretty standard understanding of the issue for a very large number of Americans, despite logic and evidence to the contrary.
